Vision Statement

Chicken Café is a 3D story based open world game with puzzle elements.

The player is locked up as a chicken in a chicken café and must find a way out through exploring the environment, cooperating with other chickens and tricking the staff to not get caught.  

There are no restrictions within the walls of the café and allow for roaming through the open environment. Items, such as keys, food and toys can be utilized and used for unlocking new areas or as weapons. The further the player progresses in the story, the more items will be unlocked. Whether the player chooses to follow the story or not is up to them, but to finish the game, they have to complete all 3 main storylines of the chickens.

Spielemechaniken

The player can move through the environment in all directions and jump to climb up obstacles. Sprinting and ducking under objects are also a key mechanic. Fall damage doesn’t exist because the chicken can catch itself by flapping its wings before hitting the ground.

Small objects on the floor, tables or bookshelves can be knocked over or pushed around. Certain Items, that can be collected are stored “under your feathers“ which function as a pocket. Those items are usable and can be equipped by opening your pocket and use the comand “Equip“. When holding a usable item in your hand, you can throw it or use it with a specific spot in the café, for example a key for a door.

Conversations with NPC chickens can be held by pressing a button on the keyboard, when the player is close enough to an interactable NPC and the key pops up.

Level Design

There are 3 main chickens placed in the café that are relevant to story progress. In the area the player is not limited, but as soon as they start a story quest after talking to a chicken they are led to certain spots, where they have to complete a task.

Story

After a cutscene about the main character's backstory, the player learns that it was a pet of a little girl but taken away by the mother and dropped off at the chicken café. On arrival in the café the player gets introduced to the basic rules by an elderly chicken. Determined to get out of the café and back home, the little chicken starts its mission and discovers tragic backstories, interesting items and learns important skills for escaping. With the help of Chuck, a strong warrior, Henna, a deeply caring mother and Chomp, a not so smart strategist, they will succeed.
