Vision Statement

Our game works with the handicap of an artificial internet ping that brings a challenge to completing our level

Game Mechanics

The most important mechanic of PING Revenger is also the biggest handicap for the player. With time the "Ping Bar" increases which makes it harder to move properly, because of random setbacks or lags, just like in a real online game with too much Ping. The higher the Ping Bar the harder it gets to progress through the level without any problems. If the "Ping Bar" reaches a Ping of 999 the player "disconnects" from the level and has to start over again.

However, the Ping Bar can be reduced by the player doing perfect jumps or tricks of the platforms and other areas of the level. The more perfect the jumps or tricks, the more Ping gets removed, but it is crucial to keep the Ping Bar low, because with every second without tricks or jumps the bar increases.

Level Design

Since PING Revenger is a first person Jump 'n' Run game, the Level consists of many, often smaller but also larger platforms, over which the player can get from start to finish. However, the whole thing should not be too easy, which is why there will be obstacles and traps in form of disappearing or moving platforms, walls, PC fans or even longer narrow paths which will require a steady hand...

Story

The main character is an anti-virus program with the name „Speedy Pinguin“, which was recently installed on an old pc. It has been running slow due to a lot of viruses. The King of these viruses is named King Ping. It has been reeking havoc on the pc and it is the sole duty of the anti-virus program to rid this computer off that powerful virus! But how do they do that? Speedy Pinguin needs to parkour all over the code of all the programs on the pc. In these the anti-virus program needs to find and destroy snippets of malware. However, Speedy Pinguin cannot take all the time in the world searching for them, since the malware works hard to stop you from finding it. It achieves that by overworking the CPU, making Speedy Pinguin’s movements a lot more unpredictable!

Can the anti-virus program stop King Ping? Can the computer be saved before it crashes? There is only one way to find out!
